About Crew Dog

Crew Dog Gear is the e-commerce site of Guides, by George!, a company started by an airline pilot in 1995.

It all began when the FAA standardized their weather reports with the international format and provided pilots the temperature in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit. If you were an international pilot this was a non-issue because the rest of the world had always been using Celsius. However, for the domestic pilot this was new territory. I was one of those domestic pilots and thus was born the Celsius – Fahrenheit conversion card. Over 30,000 have been sold.

In 1996 Guides, by George! produced a series of company-specific guides for airline employees.

The first guide, the Pilot Unimatic Guide, followed by the Flight Attendant Unimatic Guide helped crewmembers easily navigate their company work computers that still used cryptic commands.

After several printings, the huge success of these two Guides led to the introduction of the Apollo Guide. The Apollo Guide provided employees a concise booklet to navigate the company reservation-booking computer when they traveled.

A new era began in 2008 with Around the Crowne, a crew layover guide for ShàngHǎi, China.

Over 25,000 guides have been sold to-date.

Our original goal was to provide pocket-sized reference material (Guides) for company colleagues but now it expanded to being a single source for other items we "crew dogs" use in our day-to-day work environment.  Oh yea, we also have some non-work related gift items too.

CrewDogGear.com makes these products available to crew dogs and travelers alike.

What is a "Crew Dog"?

Crew Dog (Noun)

It's military slang for a member of a crew. Crew Dog typically refers to aircraft crew members, either flight crew or ground crew, but in actuality the term Crew Dog could apply to any crew (group of people) with a common mission, either inside or outside the aviation field.
